Easy Review Games – For High School Students

Are you a high school teacher who despises review games because you know NO ONE will learn anything or even review from them? Do you give out prizes? Will they pay attention? How do you find an easy review game that helps all levels of students successfully review the material?

Are you a new teacher who doesn’t even know how to begin to structure review games? You don’t know how to make the entire class actually review the material or all even be engaged at the same time? Or maybe you are like me and just don’t want to spend an ENTIRE plan hour prepping a review game for it to just flow and be a total failure.  Let me help you out! I have the perfect answer for you!

The BEST easy review game EVER!

But for REAL! I have been teaching for over a decade and I have FINALLY figured out the key to making a fun review game for a test! The answer lies in how you make them answer the question and how you give “points” for the correct answer! For this very easy fun review game for a test or anything type of review, I do not give out points for each answer they get correct or for the first team that answers the fastest! Nope! They winner of this easy review game is ALL based on chance and luck!

How to set up a high school review game-

Step one: Request/Buy/Make this AWESOME fishing Game. You do not have to have this exact game. My kids got it for Christmas from their grandparents because it was an amazon choice game, they love to fish, and it was easy to store because the poles come apart. ALL things this mom and teacher LOVES! Because let’s face it- if it says amazon choice you are also in love with it before you even really know you want to buy it!

Step 2- Figure out what questions you want to ask and how. Will you make a slide show so the question and answers are all on the board and easy to read? Will you read them out loud?

My vote is the slide show! For me, it is hard to listen to the question and try to figure out the answer if its not in front of me. I need to be able to see the question and let my mind wander and then come back and read the question again. So my go to way to ask questions during this game is to create a slide deck of questions and answers.

Each slide has ONE question with answer options. It is easier to do one word answers or multiple choice. THEN when we are finished with the game you can post this on google classroom and they have an instant study aid! Go you awesome teacher! If you ever have a parent complaint that you didn’t review the material you are covered! PLUS you can re-use the slides year after year!

Start playing your EASY review game!

Play the game! Divide the students into groups. Set up the fish. On one side of the fish is numbers. I put those down. Hand out plain blank papers to EACH student and I also give each group a dry erase board.  Put the question up. Each group has to write down the answer on their OWN paper AND after 20 seconds when I say show me- they have to show me the answer on their dry erase boards. Their papers must match the answer they show me. Once person from each group who got the answer right gets to go fishing from the pond! The number on their fish is the number of points awarded to that group! We keep a running total on the board at the front of the room. If you didn’t get it correct you don’t get to go fishing. All fish are put back, numbers down, and the next question goes on the board!!!

Such an easy high school review game!

You have just become teacher of the year!!! All students are engaged! You have a paper to collect at the end for points if you want AND have review questions to put on google classroom! YOU ROCKED THIS EASY REVIEW GAMES CHALLENGE! And now you have a fun review game for a test that you can literally play before EVERY test! My classes BEG to play it even before a quiz! They will complain they can’t take the quiz since we didn’t go fishing!
