Purpose
The guide is created to allow the teacher freedom in the implementation of the material into the classroom. It can be used as complete unit to promote the understanding of basic recipe reading, measuring, recipes abbreviations, and recipe conversions or it can be added to an existing curriculum to enhance what is already being used. Through the hands on activities and labs, students will work through the importance of directions and recipe writing, how to read a recipe, understand common abbreviations in recipes, adjust recipes for large or small groups, identify common tools needed in completing recipes, and complete a final recipe lab which will showcase their knowledge and ability.
 
 
Timeline
2 Weeks – The projects and activities can be taught as an entire unit or pulled out separately to be used in an existing curriculum.
